The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust (IGHT) are looking to appoint a Head Gardener to the famous Achamore Gardens on the beautiful island of Gigha, situated off the west coast of Scotland. The Gardens were laid out by Colonel Sir James Horlick in the mid 20th century and are a Designated Landscape in Scotland with Outstanding designations as a Work of Art and for Horticulture. The plant collection reflects the potential of the garden’s location with many tender species growing ; it also includes the Horlick rhododendron collection which is supported by the National Trust for Scotland.
IGHT are looking to appoint a creative and passionate experienced professional who will work with the IGHT and Community to develop the Garden, including restoration of key areas, working with other staff and volunteers and marketing the Garden. The role comes with a rent-free cottage on our beautiful island and a good salary package reflecting experience and skills.
Gigha is situated off the coast of Kintyre in Argyll and is just a 20 minute ferry journey from the mainland. Ferries run 7 days a week all year round.
