Around 70 species of birds can be found on Gigha including hen harriers and perigrine falcons, kestrels and buzzards, beautiful lapwings with their entrancing aerial dexterity, barn owls and numerous seabirds including cormorants, gannets, eiders and great northern divers.
Common seals can often be seen around the rocky bays and shores of the island as well as otters. Dolphins sometimes follow the ferry!
There's an abundance of wild flowers that during the spring and summer months carpet the island including sea pinks, orchids, bluebells, wild iris and grass of parnassus.
At night the dark skies above Gigha allow for some spectacular stargazing and if you're lucky a stunning display of the aurora borealis.
