Health & Safety

We want you to have an enjoyable and safe time with us on Gigha. Here are a few guidelines that we hope will ensure this:

  • Although you are free to walk anywhere on the island, we would ask that you close any gates you open and keep dogs on lead around livestock.
  • Cyclists are asked to take care, particuarly on the narrow single track roads, and particuarly around horses and farm animals.
  • Motorists are asked to abide by speed limits which are 10mph on some roads as well as taking care on the single track roads, using passing places where appropriate.
  • We would also ask that you clean up any dog waste.
  • Please leave your surroundings as you found them and clean up any waste or litter.

In the unusual case of emergency, simply dial 999 as you would on the mainland.

As on the mainland you can also ring 111 for advice and guidance. There is a resident nurse on the island who runs a surgery located on High Row. Surgery hours are as follows: Monday-Friday 8.30am-3pm. During surgery hours, you can contact the nurse on Tel 07876132130

Between 3pm - 6pm you can telephone the doctor's surgery at Muasdale on the mainland. Tel 01583 421206.
